Daniel Bonevac's research focuses on the intersection of metaphysics, philosophical logic, and ethics. His first book, "Reduction in the Abstract Sciences," received the Johnsonian Prize from The Journal of Philosophy. His other books include: "Deduction" (2002, 2nd ed.), "The Art and Science of Logic" (1990), "Beyond the Western Tradition: Readings in Moral and Political Philosophy" (1992), "Understanding Non-Western Philosophy: Introductory Readings" (1993), " "Simple Logic" (2001), "Worldly Wisdom" (2001), "Todays Moral Issues" (2009, 5th ed.), and "An Introduction to World Philosophy" (2009). He is the editor of several texts that make philosophical concepts understandable to a lay audience and the author of a number of articles. Bonevac teaches the popular undergraduate course, "Contemporary Moral Problems" as well as "World Philosophy," "History of Christian Philosophy" and "Logic."
Dr. Bonevac has taught a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), "Ideas of the Twentieth Century" (UT.2.01x), through edX, (www.edx.org). Enrollment in thic course has been approximately 50,000 so far. Taking his scholarship outside the traditional classroom, Dr. Bonevac also has a Youtube channel featuring his lectures on philosophy. the lecture on "Dostoevsky and Nietzsche" has more than 73,000 views; so does the Postmodernism lecture. His Existentialism lecture has over 54,000 views.
