Gizem Yalcin Williams is an assistant professor of marketing at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. She teaches undergraduate courses on marketing policies.

In her research, Williams explores algorithmic decision-making, the psychology of technology, prosocial behavior, consumer behavior, and judgment and decision-making. One of her main interests is comparing how consumers process and react to information provided by other people, such as experts or friends, as opposed to information provided by algorithms or artificial intelligence. She also investigates prosocial behavior and moral judgment and has conducted studies exploring how consumers decide what organizations and causes to donate to, and what companies to support.

Williams employs a mix of methods to address her research questions, including lab and field experiments and secondary data analysis. She co-wrote an article on her research that was published in Harvard Business Review, and her work has been published in academic and managerial journals, including the Journal of Marketing Research.

Williams earned a Ph.D. and research master’s degree in marketing from the Rotterdam School of Business at Erasmus University in the Netherlands. She holds a B.S. in management from Bilkent University in Turkey.
