James C Spindler
James Spindler is the Sylvan Lang Professor of Law. He teaches in the areas of securities regulation, corporate law, and corporate finance. His research focuses on subjects such as securities disclosure, corporate fraud, and executive compensation, and has appeared in journals including the Journal of Legal Studies, the American Law & Economics Review, and the law reviews of Chicago, Pennsylvania, and Georgetown. Professor Spindler has served as a consultant and expert witness in matters including securities fraud, contractual disputes, corporate governance, and securities trading systems.
Prior to joining the University of Texas School of Law, Professor Spindler taught at the University of Southern California. Before entering academia, he practiced in the New York and Hong Kong offices of Cravath, Swaine & Moore in its securities and banking groups. Professor Spindler holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.A. in Political Economy from Princeton University.
