Jonathan MacClements, MD, FAAFP, is a board-certified family medicine physician in UT Health Austins Primary Care Clinic. Additionally, Dr. MacClements is a professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Medical Education and a courtesy professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Population Health. He also serves as the Associate Dean and DIO of Graduate Medical Education for the Dell Medical School Department of Medical Education.
Dr. MacClements earned his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South African. He completed a residency in ear, nose, and throat surgery at the University of Pretoria in South Africa and a second residency in family medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, where he was a chief resident. He has also completed the McLennan Faculty Development Fellowship, the National Institute of Program Directors Fellowship, and an Americas Essential Hospitals Fellowship.
Dr. MacClements is a Federal Aviation Authority Senior Aviation Medical Examiner and is certified in tropical medicine and travelers health by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He served as the program director and the chairman of family medicine at UT Health Northeast as well as the public health authority for Smith County. He is also a past President of The University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education. In recognition of his outstanding teaching and implementation of innovative teaching models, he received both the Exemplary Teaching Award from the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and the Outstanding Teaching Award from The University of Texas Regents.
