Lucas Powe is a former law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, and he has been at University of Texas at Austin since 1971. He books include " The Supreme Court and The American Elite, 1789-2008" (2009); "American Broadcasting and the First Amendment" (1987), "The Fourth Estate and the Constitution" (1991), and "The Warren Court and American Politics (2000). Additionally he has co-authored "Regulating Broadcast Programming" (1994) and written a number of articles.
