Dr. Madeleine Holland is an assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Communication Studies, as well as the Moody College’s program manager for interdisciplinary education initiatives. She coordinates partnerships among departments within the College and also with other academic units on campus, at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Dr Holland currently serves as a Provost’s Teaching Fellow.

Dr. Holland's teaching and research focus the intersection of identity and relational communication. Specifically, she is interested in how individuals see themselves, and how those perceptions contribute to experiences of emotions like uncertainty, jealousy, stigmatization, as well as feeling committed, invested, and satisfied with their close relationships. Dr. Holland's research focuses strongly on the role that gender plays in influencing how people feel about their romantic relationships. Dr. Holland's research has appeared in a variety of journals in the field including Personal Relationships, Communication Education, and Psychology and Sexuality, as well as being highlighted in the popular magazine, Psychology Today.

Dr. Holland received her M.A. (’15) and her Ph.D. (’18) in Communication Studies from The University of Texas at Austin.
