Mirasol Enríquez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radio-Television-Film. Her scholarship, which focuses on Latina filmmakers, media production culture, Chicana/o film, and representations of race and gender in media, can be found in the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, Feminist Media Histories, and the edited collection, Screening American Independent Film (which is part of the Routledge Screening Cinema series). Her current book project is focused on U.S-based Latina filmmakers and it challenges dominant notions of authorship that keep Latinas and other underrepresented populations relegated to the margins of the film industry and film history.

As a film and media scholar and an arts administrator, Dr. Enríquez has devoted her career to community building through film and the arts. She is a sixth-generation Tejana and has been a community leader in Austin, Texas, since she and her family moved here in 2015. She was Director of both the Moody College of Communication's former Latino Media Arts and Studies program (2020-2023), and the Community Media program for the Austin Film Society (2015-2017), where she oversaw their education programs and spearheaded the community media program at Austin Public, the community media center AFS manages for the city of Austin. She has also been a guest curator for the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival.

Dr. Enríquez is a faculty affiliate of the Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies, the Center for Women's and Gender Studies, and the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies at UT.
